On Wednesday, November 27 2019, fourteen people from all over the world visited DTU Risø Campus in order to have a closer look at Large Scale Facility and Poul la Cour Wind Tunnel. The trip was a part of WindEurope Offshore conference and was created in close collaboration between DTU Wind Energy and State of Green.

This week, thousands of people visit Denmark and Bella Center where WindEurope invites to the bi-annual WindEurope Offshore Conference. As part of the conference, DTU Wind Energy and State of Green invited to a side event, where interested people could visit DTU Risø Campus in order to see Large Scale Facility as well as Poul la Cour Wind Tunnel.

Altogether fourteen people signed up for the tour. The participants included people from MHI Vestas, Korea Electric Power Corporation, Federico Santa Maria Technical University, Northland Power Europe GmbH, National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE), CNUE and Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte.

A lot of questions

Firstly, Kim Branner, Senior Researcher at DTU Wind Energy welcomed the group and introduced them to Large Scale Facility, where the department tests wind turbine blades up to 45 metres. Afterwards, Christian Bak, Senior Researcher at DTU Wind Energy, introduced the guests to Poul la Cour Wind Tunnel.

The group was very interested and asked several questions in both facilities; questions dealing with vortex and fatigue testing.
