New Book tells the story of DTU Wind Energy

Thursday 06 Jun 19

DTU launches a new book that tells the story of the department and 40 years of research and development of wind energy.

The story goes back 40 years - back to 1978, when the Test Station for Small Wind Turbines at Risø saw the light of day for the first time.

Since then, the Test Station has become DTU Risø, two test centres on the west coast of Jutland have been added and much, much more.

In a new book, researchers from DTU Wind Energy and business partners throughout the years talk about the development that the institute has gone through from the early beginnings up until today.

“It is the story of individuals, wind turbine cooperatives, and the wind turbine industry that invested in untested green energy technology and created confidence and formed the basis for large-scale investments and the development of large-scale wind farms both onshore and offshore by international energy companies,” Head of Department, Peter Hauge Madsen writes in his introduction.
