Collaboration is the future

Wednesday 03 Apr 19

We need more focus on education and collaboration, a group of people debated at the WindEurope Conference and Exhibition in Bilbao.

”We need to collaborate like we have never done before.” The words belong to Mark Foley. He is CEO for EirGrid in Ireland.

Together with Matteo Marini (ABB), Antonella Battaglini (Renewables Grid Initiative), Zoltan Nagy-Bege (Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority), Joan Groizard (Renewable Energies, IDEA), Vera Silva (GE Grid Solutions) and Santiago Marin (Red Eléctrica de España) he participated at the event ’System Integration – The next frontier for wind system? At the WindEurope Conference and Exhibition in Bilbao.

"Innovation is needed on collaboration. Industry, public research organisations and the funding agencies need to find new more effective ways of working together"
Ignacio Martí, Head of Section at DTU Wind Energy

One of the conclusions at the event was, that we need to cooperate more:

”We need cooperation between the stakeholders. We need to remove organisational barriers,” Vera Silva said.

Ignacio Martí, Head of Section at DTU Wind Energy agrees with the panel. After the session, he said:

”Innovation is needed on collaboration. Industry, public research organisations and the funding agencies need to find new more effective ways of working together.”

Education and involvement

Mark Foley also stressed the importance of education. In order to get the a better grid and more wind energy consumption, we need to focus on education:

”The education of people is our responsibility,” he said.

It is, however, not only the people working within the field of wind energy who needs education. Also, people everywhere needs to be educated, Joan Groizard said:

”When people see a wind turbine, when they go for a walk – they need to know, what is in it for them.”
